Where should i start? oh.. maybe from hailing a cab in front of the camp. It is quite convenient to hail a cab here. you don't need to own a car if your life is about going to Tawau Town and around the camp. we stop at Affin Bank to Draw cash, walked to Maybank to put in cash into my bank, then walked to Ambank to settle our credit card bills, and we went to Restoran Yassin. This restaurant was awarded "fair price outlet" in 2008 (or 2007) i couldn't remember. but it was 3 years back. 1st impression?? emm upon our arrival, nobody greeted us. some waitress (in uniform) were sweeping the floor. It was rather dirty. some were rearranging cutleries on some tables at the back. the place was crowded. So many tables (trying to accommodate as much people that they could) they have air-conditioning section too but hubby opt to eat at the non-air conditioned area, because he needed to smoke.
Not so much of a choice, i ordered chicken tandoori and nan (it was the only chicken left, i think they should replenished to avoid customers thinking that they were being served with leftovers), i ordered because it was the most appealing menu. Hubby ordered rice and fish. we ate, and there was a sudden heavy downpour, we waited.. i took the time to observe people, the owner, the workers.. i don't think they are serious with their job. and the way one of the worker transport the dishes from the kitchen is rather dangerous. he almost hit hubby's elbow with the serving dish. and it was hot. Hubby did mention that if the pot touches his elbow, he would sue the restaurant for being safety ignorant. i agree with him.
we walked to Parkwell, another supermarket in town aside Milimewa, we pick some of the things that we couldn't get from Hilltop.. and we went upstairs to check on other things. we went to ladies department, i must say that the ladies clothes are ridiculously pricey. i'd rather get something from MNG or Elle during sale.. we went up another floor to check out the gents department (where i used to work during my term break back in college time). we found some nice shoes for hubby and he agreed to get a pair (he badly needed a new pair), finished with our purchase and left. Parkwell is situated just the opposite of Pasar Gantung (the place you could find cheap local stuff, but it isn't so cheap after all)
just beside the shopping mall (on your left if you facing Pasar Gantung), there were a row of shop houses and one of it apparently is a barber shop. most of the people in uniform get their haircut done there. Very hard to find mamak barber shop. all i could see was unisex saloon run by Chinese females and male.. but not Mamak.
After the haircut, we walk back to Affin Bank area, draw some more cash, and walk to restaurant Aleef (Ali Topan) . Quite a popular name among people in the camp. i think they used to hang out there after coming out from CK karaoke and cafe..(the place i hate most but most of the guys like it i don't know why!). so much on the menu to choose from. I chosed to eat nasi goreng with ayam masam manis (fried rice with sweet sour chicken) it was not a good choice though!
We went back straight to the camp in a cab. the driver was a hard core government supporter. it was quite interesting to listen to him all the way back!
Monday.. after hubby had dinner at the mess, we went out again to town in a cab. this time the driver brought a long a little girl.. sitting next to the driver seat. maybe around 2 years old because she doesn't speak proper words. and all the way me and hubby has to talk the girl to sit down. the driver said nothing. not even a single word!! i don't understand, a responsible adult wont let children standing on the seat next to the driver like that! I was worried sick! hopefully god will brace the child. I wouldn't let anything like that happen to my kid. And thank God my Adrian is one very obedient passenger. Normally he is the one who always remind others to put on their seat belts.. this is what i called early education. TWO things that we could never compromise are safety and health!! Please pass on to your children that putting on a seatbelt in the front seat is very important. And i started implementing my passengers to buckle up behind too.. no matter how awkward it sounds but the most educated people do it and calling myself an educated person, i wont want to be left out..
Ok.. enough of the seatbelt. ohh we went for a massage.at A1 massage center. initially i was the only one having the massage but later, after considering the 1 hour boredom that he has to face alone, hubby opt for a foot massage for himself. We were given the massage in the same room. the room is quite big but not quite comfortable.. a very simple room with a massage bed and a chair. The masseur who did hubby's feet was blind. An old guy. so he couldn't see if i strip naked to get my whole body massage. my masseur is a lady, the same person who massage my feet some time ago. and this time i got to learn her name. Its Mary. a very good person. she taught me some useful tips how to massage a newborn baby and she also warned me that Pregnant Woman Should Not get A Foot Massage, because the tendency lost the newly form baby is very-very high... so bear that in mind preggys! Hubby was not used of the whole massage thing. the last time he went for a foot massage was 6 years ago.. he keep complaining of the pain..but he did well though..
To end my day, we went to Ali Topan again to have dinner. This time i ordered nasi putih separuh with ayam masak pedas (half white rice with spicy chicken) and kicai aka limau ais plus assam boi (lime plus dried assam). half thumb up for the chicken. Hubby ordered roti telur (it was acceptable) but the gravy was something very weird (and they called it curry). frankly speaking, they must have put the curry powder plus the other spices with water and served.. that is what i thought their recipe for the curry...
We ate and talked.. and finally got tired and walk to the cab station and go back straight to camp and prepare to sleep.. zzzz
